Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in Arizona

What is IUI?
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a common fertility treatment option that involves placing washed sperm directly into the uterus to increase the chances of fertilization. At CCRM Fertility of Arizona, we offer state-of-the-art IUI treatments & compassionate expertise that are both customized to meet the individual needs of our patients.
Our IUI Process at CCRM Fertility of Arizona
While IUI continues to be the gold standard of infertility treatment in the medical community, at CCRM Fertility of Arizona, we understand that every patient is unique. That’s why we begin the IUI process with a comprehensive evaluation of both partners, including a thorough medical history, physical examination, and laboratory testing. Our experienced team of reproductive specialists will then collaborate with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.
Before beginning IUI treatment, patients may undergo ovulation induction to stimulate the ovaries and increase the chances of successful fertilization. This may include taking oral medications or receiving injectable hormones, depending on your individual needs.
Once the ovaries are stimulated, we will monitor your cycle closely using ultrasound imaging and hormone testing. When the follicles have reached the appropriate size, we will administer a trigger shot of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to trigger ovulation.
Approximately 24-36 hours after receiving the hCG shot, you will return to our clinic for the IUI procedure. During the procedure, we will insert a thin catheter through the cervix and into the uterus, where washed sperm will be injected directly into the uterus. The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes, and patients can return to normal activities immediately afterward.

WILL MY IUI TREATMENT BE COVERED?
When it comes to fertility insurance benefits, it pays to be in the know. CCRM Fertility of Arizona will perform a verification of benefits and financial consultation for you before any treatment begins. This will provide you with details about your coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility–including your deductibles, your plan limits, and whether you have any in-network or out-of-network benefits–so that you will fully understand how much help you can expect from insurance and what your financial obligations may be.
Insurance coverage for fertility treatment is variable and determined by your employer’s insurance plan. The state of Arizona does not require employers or insurers to offer benefits for fertility treatment. As a consequence, most patients can complete the majority of their diagnostic evaluations through insurance without major financial impact, but the costs for fertility-specific treatments, such as IUI and IVF, remain a significant out-of-pocket expense for most Arizona residents. If this situation applies to you, then you should not feel forced to choose a fertility clinic that contracts with your insurance company because the treatment portion of your care (the most important part) will not be covered by your insurance whether you are working with an in-network facility or not. You should instead choose the fertility center offering outstanding results and the best overall fit for your needs.
At CCRM Fertility of Arizona, we excel in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and offer competitive pricing and financial incentives to help manage the cost of your care. We do not currently contract with any insurance companies, but we do accept out-of-network insurance benefits and will work with you to minimize your out-of-pocket costs and maximize your success whether you are using a fertility treatment benefit or not. Very importantly, most of the initial workup can be completed through your insurance with minimal out-of-pocket cost, saving your resources for treatment if needed.
If you have any questions about your fertility insurance benefits or treatment options, please give your CCRM Fertility of Arizona team a call today.
Donor Sperm and IUI at CCRM Fertility of Arizona
At CCRM Fertility of Arizona, we offer a successful Donor Sperm Program for individuals and couples who may require donor sperm to achieve pregnancy. This option can be used in combination with IUI for patients in the following situations:
- No viable sperm available or insufficient semen parameters for natural conception or IUI.
- Male infertility factors, such as low sperm count or motility issues.
- Same-sex female couples or single women looking to conceive.
- Couples who prefer to avoid IVF/ICSI due to personal, religious, or financial reasons.
We collaborate with AATB-certified cryobanks to provide a broad selection of donor sperm options, ensuring patients can find the right donor based on physical characteristics and genetic backgrounds. All donors undergo extensive medical, genetic, and psychological screening to ensure the highest quality.
Donor Sperm Insemination Process
Insemination using donor sperm can be done during a woman’s natural cycle or in a stimulated cycle with fertility medications, depending on individual needs. For women with no underlying fertility issues, natural cycle IUI is often the best option, minimizing the chances of a high-risk pregnancy due to multiples.
Before proceeding with donor sperm IUI, we ensure all patients meet FDA guidelines for safety, performing the necessary testing for both the patient and the donor sperm.
If you’re considering using donor sperm for IUI, our team at CCRM Fertility of Arizona is here to guide you through the process with compassionate care and expert advice.
